Excavation at the multi-period settlement site at Skaill, Rousay, resumes in July.
The site, which was in use from the Norse period until the 19th century, is also the home to a large Norse hall. Found beneath the more recent buildings, this structure was revealed in 2019 and probably dates to the 10th to 12th centuries AD.
The UHI Archaeology Institute dig, led by Dan Lee, runs from July 4, until July 22, 2022, with visitors welcome.
