University Archaeology Day is designed for prospective undergraduate or graduate students, careers advisers, teachers and anyone with an interest in the subject. It is organised by University Archaeology UK and the Council for British Archaeology with the support of the British Academy.
You’ll find it especially useful if you’re currently in years 12 or 13, looking to study as a mature student, or a current HE student thinking about postgraduate options, but everyone is welcome!
You will meet lecturers and current students from archaeology departments across the UK, as well as representatives from professional bodies and employers, participate in themed online sessions covering excavation and key debates in 21st century archaeology, and get a chance to explore first hand what it’s like to study archaeology at university and the career opportunities available afterwards.
You will have the opportunity to ask all the questions you ever had about degree programmes and institutions, applications and careers. A series of panel sessions, streamed online, will also show the breadth of the subject, highlight cutting-edge research and some of the latest finds and debates, and cover application tips, careers advice and more.
Come along to find out what archaeology is all about, what it’s like to study the subject at university, and the kinds of careers that archaeology students can go in to – everything you need to know about studying this exciting and incredibly broad subject, which combines arts, humanities and sciences to develop a mix of highly employable skills which can open doors to all kinds of careers.
