Excavation of the multi-period settlement site at Skaill, Rousay, resumes in July.

The site, which was in use from the Norse period until the 19th century, is also the home to a large Norse hall. Found beneath the more recent buildings, this structure was revealed in 2019 and probably dates to the 10th to 12th centuries AD.

The UHI Archaeology Institute dig runs from July 10, until July 28, 2023, with visitors welcome.

The site open day is scheduled for Saturday, July 22.
