2025 dig dates set . . .

Dates set for The Cairns and Skaill farm excavations.

The dates for this summer’s excavations have been set.

A six-week season at The Cairns, South Ronaldsay will get under way on Monday, June 9, 2025, running until Friday, July 18. The open day will take place on Friday, July 11.

This will be the penultimate season of fieldwork at the Iron Age broch site. After 20 years digging, excavation will end after the 2026 season.

In Rousay, archaeologists will return to Skaill farm from Monday, July 7, until Friday, July 25. The Skaill open day is scheduled for Saturday, July 19.
