The recording of the Orkney Archaeology Society (OAS) talk in which Dr Hugo Anderson-Whymark gave an update on the 2024 excavation season at the Blomuir chambered cairn, Holm, Orkney.

The recording of the Orkney Archaeology Society (OAS) talk in which Dr Hugo Anderson-Whymark gave an update on the 2024 excavation season at the Blomuir chambered cairn, Holm, Orkney.

The Neolithic structure was first found in the late 19th century and after some archival detective work, followed by geophysical survey, its location was discovered again.

Work on the Maeshowe-type cairn began in 2023, directed by Hugo, of National Museums Scotland, and Professor Vicki Cummings, Cardiff University.

The final three-week season of excavation gets under way in August 2025.
