Spurness 2025 – dig diary day four

The bulk of the infill at the western end of the Bronze Age structure is now gone - ready for the covers to come off tomorrow.

Down to the covers

A short diary for today because we mostly did more of the same – deturfing in the morning and then removing the backfill from the 2018 trench. But we made incredible progress and, after shifting bucketloads of soil and stones, are now down to the protective covers lying on the building’s eastern end.

This will be removed tomorrow – if the weather plays ball – and then excavation can begin in earnest.

Well done to all the team.
