The UHI is the United Kingdom’s leading integrated university encompassing both further and higher education.

It is one of a new breed of tertiary institutions – the only one in Scotland and one of only a few in Europe, which uses some of the best online learning technologies available to bring high-quality teaching and learning to rural Highland and Island communities.

This means UHI Archaeology Institute students have the opportunity not only to study in a world-class archaeological environment but also live in a truly amazing place – whether that is in the Orkney, Shetland, the Hebrides or Highland college campuses.

Although the Archaeology Institute has its hub in Orkney College, we have students across the UHI campuses, which are all linked by video conferencing:
