This year’s archaeology special award winners

Three archaeology students were recognised at the 2021 Orkney College special awards ceremony this week.

Three archaeology graduates were recognised at the 2021 Orkney College special awards ceremony this week.

The special awards are normally presented as part of the annual graduation ceremony, but unfortunately this was cancelled due to the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions. However, this year’s winners were recognised at a small event at Orkney College UHI where acting principal, Jo Wallace, along with the award sponsors, congratulated the recipients and presented them with their prize.

The University of the Highlands and Islands Archaeology Institute presents four awards annually and the 2021 winners are:

  • Holly Young: Judith Robertson Memorial Prize (Orkney Archaeology).
  • Mairead Morgan: Best Performance in Undergraduate Archaeology Student and Best Undergraduate Archaeology Student Dissertation.
  • Rachel Nicholson: Best Performance in Postgraduate Archaeology Student.

Congratulations to Holly, Mairead and Rachel and all our 2021 graduates.
