The island of Hoy was the destination for a group of SIRFA symposium participants on Friday.
The “Early Bird” group arrived in Lyness at 8.30am and were treated to a tour of the area’s wartime sites by Dr Gavin Lindsay. At 11am they were joined by the UHI Archaeology Institute’s Dan Lee and a second group of SIRFA visitors. After a tour of the Scapa Flow Museum, both groups headed north to Rackwick and the Dwarfie Stane.
