Skaill excavation places available to Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre residents

If you live on the islands of Rousay, Egilsay or Wyre and would like to take part in this year’s excavation at Skaill farm get in touch.

The UHI Archaeology Institute team are returning to the multi-period site in Rousay on July 10, and there are placements and training available for residents of the three islands.

So, if you’d like to join the archaeologists for a day, or more, email studyarchaeology@uhi.ac.uk.

The Skaill excavation runs until July 28, 2023.

Visitors are welcome on weekdays from 9.30am until 4.30pm, with an open day planned for Saturday, July 22.

To reach the site, visitors should park at the Midhowe car park, walk down the path, turn left at shore, follow the path beyond the kirk.
