The launch of ORCA‘s new industrial heritage project reaches Eday this week, with a talk, drop-in session and site visits.

Commissioned by the North Isles Landscape Partnership, From peat spade to tangle trade: The industrial heritage of Orkney’s North Isles is exploring sites of industrial heritage, setting them in inter-island and wider contexts.

The free introductory talk takes place in the community room at the school at 7.30pm on Tuesday, February 13.

Before that, Dan Lee and Sean Bell will be visiting industrial heritage sites across the island to plan future fieldwork. Anyone interested is welcome to join them, departing the heritage centre at 10am.

Then, in the afternoon, a drop-in session takes place at Sties from 2-4pm. All events are free and open to all.
