We are delighted to open up the last remaining places on this year’s Ness to Ness art and archaeology course – a real highlight for summer 2024 and especially significant this year because it’s the final season of fieldwork at the Ness of Brodgar.Ā

The other Ness is the Ness Battery, in Stromness ā€“ a fascinating remnant of wartime Orkney.

The course takes place runs from Tuesday, July 30, until Friday, August 2, 2024.

Full details and an itinerary can be downloaded here.

The minibus will be leaving and returning to Kirkwall on fieldtrip days, and the studio days will be based at UHI Orkney, also in Kirkwall – so we strongly recommend you booking accommodation near there if possible.

The cost for the four-day workshop is Ā£460, but please note this doesn’t include food, or travel, or accommodation – all of which you will be expected to arrange and pay for yourselves.Ā

To book, email kat.fryer@uhi.ac.uk with your contact details (including phone) and address for invoicing – and with Ness to Ness Art & Archaeology Workshop clearly stated in the subject line.

We currently have way more folk interested in coming along than we have places, as we have decided to limit the spaces to eight people to allow for a richer experience. So, we would recommend getting organised / booked / paid as soon as you can!

Places are allocated on a first-come first-served basis – we will also maintain a reserve list.

Cancellations before the end of May will be refunded and places offered to people on the reserve list, but cancellations after that date can not be refunded. As such we strongly recommend that you have appropriate travel insurance in place in case of emergencies.
