Institute speakers at April’s two-day islands symposium

The UHI Archaeology Institute’s Dr Emily Gal and Martin Carruthers are among the speakers at a two-day symposium, Island narratives of kinship, place and the weather, next month.

Emily will be talking about Prehistoric occupation of machair and dune landscapes on Thursday, April 3, with Martin’s talk, His and Hers? Gender, Kin-craft, Household, Soil, and Sea: Excavating the Changing Island Identities of Iron Age South Ronaldsay, Orkney, on Friday, April 4.

Also participating is Contemporary Art and Archaeology graduate Aileen Ogilvie, who will talk about her residency at the Skaill farm excavations, Rousay, in Sigurd? Reimagining the sound of interwoven, intergenerational, more-than-human connections at Skaill Farm.
