Neolithic Postgraduate Student Stories Undergraduate

A day among the monuments for new archaeology students

To mark the start of the academic year, 27 of our new undergraduate and postgraduate students - from all over the globe - experienced all the weather Orkney could throw at them today on a field trip to the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.

To mark the start of the academic year, 27 of our new undergraduate and postgraduate students – from all over the globe – experienced all the weather Orkney could throw at them today on a field trip to the Heart of Neolithic Orkney World Heritage Site.

Led by Professors Jane Downes and Colin Richards and Dr Rebecca Younger, the first stop of the day was the Stones of Stenness and the Barnhouse settlement, before a visit to the Maeshowe chambered cairn a few hundred metres away.

Then it was on to Skara Brae before the excursion ended at Kirbuster Farm Museum.
