TRANSECTS Storylines events are a series of informal sessions for sharing stories relating to whale oil, oil and gas and renewables in Orkney. Participants are encouraged to bring objects or photographs that can spark conversation.

Mark has been commissioned for three short films TRANSECTS that explore changes in marine energy transitions (whale oil, oil and gas and marine renewables) and coastal community resilience over time in Orkney.

A recent film of Mark’s ‘The World We Make Is Shaped By The Stories We Tell’ (2025), was commissioned as a  response to the Creative Landscape Futures workshop ‘Creative Islands: Land, Sea, Pasts, Futures’, Orkney 23-25 Feb 2023. The film takes a journey through time and energy and is a recycled film production, using archive films in the public domain and clips from his previous film productions.
