The post will help deliver the society’s role within Aim 2 of Scotland’s Archaeology Strategy by assisting the ScARF project manager with the management, development and updating of the Scottish Archaeological Research Framework.

Work will include helping to create and publish new regional and thematic research frameworks.

  • Position Title: ScARF Project Officer
  •  Reporting to: ScARF Project Manager
  •  Starting salary: £24,429.70 to £27,035.53 per annum depending on experience, plus a 10% pension contribution and a flexible working policy.
  •  Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week. This is a fixed term position until the end of March 2026 with possibility of extension. 
  •  Holidays: 38 days per year

 The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of and interest in archaeological research into Scotland’s past, as well as an understanding of the strategic role of research frameworks. They will also have knowledge of the wider heritage sector in Scotland.
 
They will be able to manage and prioritise a varied workload and they will enjoy organising and hosting events. They will be able to write engaging content for our website, newsletters and social media, but also have an eye for detail to ensure the content is of high quality.

The post holder will have excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with a variety of stakeholders. This is a fantastic opportunity for a candidate wishing to develop or broaden a career in Scottish archaeology.
