Easter fieldtrip 2023 – day two

Day two of the 2023 Student Easter fieldtrip.

The weather was decidedly better today, as we gathered at the bus early on Saturday morning.

First on the agenda was a trip to see the two chambered cairns at Kinbrace Hill, Kildonan – an area absolutely packed with archaeology. The first was a beautiful round cairn lying in the shadow of an apparently incomplete long cairn.

Next we set off north again to discuss the Mesolithic at Berriedale Braes, Caithness, before concluding the morning’s activities at the Badbea clearance village.

We rounded off the day with a hike to the well-preserved Feranach broch.
