Shapinsay, Sanday and Westray residents can look forward to a free talk and workshop exploring Neolithic rock art in Orkney this month.

As part of our Tombs of the Isles project, Dr Antonia Thomas will be joined by ORCA’s Chris Gee in Shapinsay on Saturday, May 13. The workshop, which looks at the inspiration, materials and methods used in the creation of Neolithic art, runs from 11am until 4pm at the Club Rooms. Antonia’s talk is scheduled for 11.30am.

They will be out in Sanday on May 18-19. Antonia’s talk will be delivered at 7.30pm on Thursday, May 18, in the Community Room, with the workshop, in Heilsa Fjold, between 10am and 4pm the following day.

The dates for Westray are Tuesday, May 23, and Wednesday, May 24. The talk will take place on the Tuesday evening, at 7.30pm, in the Saintear bistro, with the workshop in the Learning Centre from 10am until 4pm on the Wednesday.

The events are free to attend and all are welcome – whether just dropping in for a spell or the entire workshop.
