Archaeologists are back at the Knowe of Swandro, Rousay, next week to continue excavating a site with activity running from the Iron Age through to the Norse period.

The Swandro site is being destroyed by coastal erosion so, in 2010, work began to record as much of it as possible before the archaeology is completely washed away.

Run by the Swandro-Orkney Coastal Archaeology Trust, the excavation resumes on Monday, June 19, and runs until Friday, August 11, 2023.

Visitors are welcome and tours of the dig site available. Click here for more details.
