The launch of ORCA‘s new industrial heritage project reaches Sanday this week, with a talk, workshop and fieldtrip on Monday and Tuesday.

Commissioned by the North Isles Landscape Partnership, From peat spade to tangle trade: The industrial heritage of Orkney’s North Isles will explore sites of industrial heritage, setting them in inter-island and wider contexts.

The free introductory talk takes place at Heilsafjold at 7.30pm on Monday, December 11, and is followed by a drop-in session, at the same venue, from 10am on Tuesday.

In the afternoon, Dan Lee and Sean Bell will be visiting industrial heritage sites across the island to plan future fieldwork. Anyone interested is welcome to join them.
