The TRANSECTS project is seeking embedded artist(s) for workshops and a mini-residency roles to explore marine energy transitions and coastal community resilience in Orkney.
The UHI TRANSECTS project team would like to work with creative practitioners to explore the relationship between creativity and marine energy transitions from whale oil, oil and gas and renewables through time. The artists will work with coastal communities in Orkney to explore their role and understanding of marine energy transitions past and present, how we can learn from this to help plan better for the future and increase resilience.
In Orkney, there are two funded opportunities. Practitioners will work collaboratively with the TRANSECTS UHI team to co-deliver place-based walkshops (£3,000 budget) and have the opportunity to explore the project themes with an artist mini-residency (£5,000 budget) in 2025 and 2026. Successful artists can undertake one or both of these roles.
