We’re delighted to announce that UHI Archaeology Institute PhD student Jenny Murray has passed her viva examination with corrections.Â
A curator at the Shetland Museum and Archives, Jenny’s SGSAH-funded project, A saint in stone: the significance of the materiality of the Cult of Saints as evidenced in the Cult of St Magnus, focused on Magnus Erlendsson, in particular physical traces of his cult in the North Atlantic.
Expanding on research carried out by the UHI Archaeology Institute’s Dr Sarah Jane Gibbon, this saw Jenny recording sites relating to St Magnus as well as the surviving artefacts associated with his veneration – and making a few groundbreaking discoveries along the way.
