It’s been a successful weekend for the UHI Archaeology Institute at the Scottish Student Archaeology Society conference (SSACC) conference in Aberdeen.

In the Archaeology Scotland student dissertation competition, Dominic Farrugia won the runner-up prize in the undergraduate section (for Guarding the Wall: Stirling’s 16th century Rennaissance Wall), while Julia Brunner took the prize for best postgraduate dissertation (For A life in plants: diachronic investigation of agricultural and subsistence practices through analysis of the charred plant remains from the SE room of the Middle Iron Age broch at The Cairns, South Ronaldsay, Orkney).

As part of conference, presentations were delivered by Rosalind Neville Smith and Bev Rose, with posters from Annie Anderson and Harry Feather.

All in all, there was a definite UHIAI presence at the conference which, we’re assured, was also a lot of fun!
