The new Orkney Archaeology Review has been arriving with members of the Orkney Archaeology Society (OAS) over the past week.

The annual OAS publication looks at archaeological and heritage work undertaken in the islands the previous year.

This year, the UHI Archaeology Institute contributions are an article on “men’s graves” sites and the traditions surrounding them, Amanda Brend and Martin Carruthers on the geophysical survey carried out at the Loch of Ayre broch in Holm, Orkney, Sigurd Towrie on the 2025 excavation at Spurness, Sanday, and a look ahead to this summer’s exploratory dig at the Ness of Brodgar.

The full contents of the 2026 review, the eleventh in the series, are:

  • David Drever 1952-2025
