A new website looking at Orkney’s role in changing energy supplies over the centuries has been launched.
From ancient water power to today’s world-first hydrogen and marine energy projects, the Orkney Energy Trail explores how we got here, and how the archipelago’s story can help shape a more sustainable tomorrow.
The Orkney Research Centre for Archaeology (ORCA) was one of the project contributors.
Welcoming the resource, ORCA’s Dan Lee said: “It’s great to see the trail launched, allowing people to explore the key places that make up Orkney’s unique energy story. We helped bring some time depth to the trail with information about archaeological sites and museums, and include some of the places recorded during recent energy heritage projects.”
