The 2026 Orkney International Science Festival gets under way tomorrow, September 3, with one of the events looking at traditional food in Orkney.

As part of Time for Traditional Food, Professor Ingrid Mainland, Dr Ben Elliott and Dr Ragnhild Ljosland will be presenting posters on the strands of food-based research that intersects with the more future-facing work on food and cooking skills UHI Orkney is involved with.

There will be demonstrations and samples of traditional fare and the event runs in the Overblikk Restaurant at UHI Orkney, East Road, Kirkwall, from 10am until 11.30am. Entry is by ticket and these can be purchased here.
