Congratulation to Michael Zambon, who has passed his MRes viva examination with minor corrections.

Michael’s thesis was ‘Not all early medieval stones are created equal’: A further assessment of the Conan Stone, a Class II Pictish Cross-slab and his supervisors were Sarah Jane Gibbon, Jen Harland, and Martin Goldberg of National Museums Scotland.

Michael completed an MLitt in Archaeological Studies last year and , interested in pursuing a PhD, felt that an MRes research degree was the perfect intermediary step. His research was funded by the UHI Archaeology Institute, the North of Scotland Archaeological Society (NOSAS) and the Scottish Society for Northern Studies (SSNS).

Congratulation Michael!

We’d be delighted to hear from anyone considering a self-funded MRes or PhD. Our research themes and topics are outlined here and if any of those are of interest, contact Professor Jane Downes for more information.
