Hacksness, Sanday

Hackness, Sanday
Type:Uncertain.
Location:Map
Notes:A sub-circular mound on the western coast of Hacksness, measuring 6m east to west and 4m north to south.

In 1999, it survived to a height of up to 1.25m high.

The fact the mound does not appear in 19th century Ordnance Survey maps suggests it may be of more recent origin.

However, its location on a headland a short distance to the south-east of a known Neolithic settlement site at Stove may be significant.
